Did You Know?!

The American Heritage Dictionary has compiled a list of one hundred words every high-school graduate should know. I know you are wondering where that came from.

Okay, it's like this.

Beth has this book, 1001 things Every Teen Should Know Before They Leave Home (or Else They'll Come Back). First off, I didn't buy the book for her, she bought it herself. I am not sure if that is a slap to us as parents, or if she was just covering all her bases! lol
If you knew/know Beth, it is that she wants to be prepared!
Anyway, I just finished reading through it. It really is quite good. It has a lot of practical advice in it and I am thinking it will become my new graduation present to seniors.

Here is a partial list of words: abjure * abrogate * abstemious * acumen * antebellum * auspicious * belie * bellicose * bowdlerize * chicanery * chromosome * churlish * circumlocution * circumnavigate.

Goodness, I don't even know some of those words. In my everyday-homeschooling-mommy life, these words do not play a role. Maybe these should be our word of the week words.
In other news, the first three days of school have gone well. Tonight, we are going to be stretching carpet and finishing up the floor in our new room.

Aren't you all glad you stopped by to read this rambling, disjointed post?!
