Heathly Check-ups!

As I mentioned, yesterday was our yearly trip to the pediatrician. We love our doctor, and think she is absolutely wonderful.

We always schedule the children's appointments all together. We live on the east side of the city, and the doctor's office is on the north-west side of a western suburb. Anyway, it is quite a trip in good weather, and yesterday was anything but good!

The boys went first. Ty is 67 1/2" tall and weighs 109 pounds. Luc is 50" tall and weighs 49 pounds. All is well with Ty, he grew 2 3/4 inches since last year and gained 7 pounds. He is finally taller than his sister. Luc on the other hand has been fighting a cold since Christmas and his body has finally had enough. He has a sinus infection, pink eye and possibly strep throat. The dr. didn't culture it since she was putting him on Augmentin, she said that would take care of everything. We are so thankful we had appointments already scheduled! Luc grew 2 1/4 inches and gained 2 3/4 pounds. It was an uneventful appointment for them!

The girls followed, and it was not so uneventful. Beth weighed in at 105 pounds and measured 66" tall. While Lys weighed 72 pounds and 57" tall. Lys was the first with her exam and the doctor found her "humpback". We were aware of it, and she goes to the chiropractor, where he stretches her and adjusts her to help her back to keep in alignment and length the muscles. This was the first time it was apparent at the dr's and she wanted an x-ray for their records and to measure. It was not bad (which we knew) and she doesn't have to be seeing anytime before her next yearly exam. Beth was next and we filled dr in on Beth's ortho doctors, and did some general chatting. While we were there Beth did her little "hiccup" that she does and we also mentioned her coughing when she drinks. This baffled the good dr and she even tested out what we told her. She wanted Beth to go down for a barium swallow to make sure all was working properly. All came back "normal" and we have come to the conclusion that this is just Beth being Beth! We love her anyway!

So if you were wondering, our appointments were at 1:00 p.m. and we never left the office until 3:40 p.m. It was a long appointment, but we are thankful we were able to get all the needed tests done all in one place. We were definitely thanking God for not only healthy check-ups, but also for safety traveling (me especially, Tom made it home from Rochester just in time to drive) on roads that were not fit for man nor beast!
