Tuesday we spent our afternoon working on these.
Ty & Beth worked mainly on the barn and the assembling of both.
This was their first attempt at creating gingerbread houses.
No, we did not make the gingerbread. We bought
the kits and then tweaked them with our own ideas.
Can you tell who "tweaked" this?
Lys & Luc worked on this with a little help
from everyone.
We made the house/barn to take to our homeschool meeting.
When all was said and done, they came in 3rd place.
They were very excited and are already talking about
next year. They want to make their own gingerbread
in hopes that it will be easier to work with. I have even heard talk
of lights being used! Oh my!
Can you tell that the Christmas spirit has come to out house?
Disclaimer: We made a HUGE mess and they took a lot of time.
But everyone had a great time, so it was worth it!
If they do it again next year, they really need to start a few days ahead of time.

those are great!!! i have thought about getting the kits for the kiddies here. do you think it would be as much of a mess if we just followed the kit and didn't "tweek" it? i'm NOT big into messy right now :)
So cool looking! I think I'll send my kids your way next year when you work on these. I have NO PATIENTS (I know it's the wrong word) :) Sounds like Ace of Gingerbread Cakes wanting to add lights :)
momma-the mess we made came mostly from the frosting (the house is Wilton) which is royal frosting. The barn came with pre-made frosting, and it wasn't quite as bad. Plus, it says to wait an hour for them to dry but at the same time keep the frosting moist because it dries out quickly. I think we might still be cleaning up frosting and candy scraps in the dinning room!
