Heathly Check-ups!

As I mentioned, yesterday was our yearly trip to the pediatrician. We love our doctor, and think she is absolutely wonderful.

We always schedule the children's appointments all together. We live on the east side of the city, and the doctor's office is on the north-west side of a western suburb. Anyway, it is quite a trip in good weather, and yesterday was anything but good!

The boys went first. Ty is 67 1/2" tall and weighs 109 pounds. Luc is 50" tall and weighs 49 pounds. All is well with Ty, he grew 2 3/4 inches since last year and gained 7 pounds. He is finally taller than his sister. Luc on the other hand has been fighting a cold since Christmas and his body has finally had enough. He has a sinus infection, pink eye and possibly strep throat. The dr. didn't culture it since she was putting him on Augmentin, she said that would take care of everything. We are so thankful we had appointments already scheduled! Luc grew 2 1/4 inches and gained 2 3/4 pounds. It was an uneventful appointment for them!

The girls followed, and it was not so uneventful. Beth weighed in at 105 pounds and measured 66" tall. While Lys weighed 72 pounds and 57" tall. Lys was the first with her exam and the doctor found her "humpback". We were aware of it, and she goes to the chiropractor, where he stretches her and adjusts her to help her back to keep in alignment and length the muscles. This was the first time it was apparent at the dr's and she wanted an x-ray for their records and to measure. It was not bad (which we knew) and she doesn't have to be seeing anytime before her next yearly exam. Beth was next and we filled dr in on Beth's ortho doctors, and did some general chatting. While we were there Beth did her little "hiccup" that she does and we also mentioned her coughing when she drinks. This baffled the good dr and she even tested out what we told her. She wanted Beth to go down for a barium swallow to make sure all was working properly. All came back "normal" and we have come to the conclusion that this is just Beth being Beth! We love her anyway!

So if you were wondering, our appointments were at 1:00 p.m. and we never left the office until 3:40 p.m. It was a long appointment, but we are thankful we were able to get all the needed tests done all in one place. We were definitely thanking God for not only healthy check-ups, but also for safety traveling (me especially, Tom made it home from Rochester just in time to drive) on roads that were not fit for man nor beast!

Oh Happy Day!

Today is the 12th anniversary of the day our younger daughter was born. True, it won't be until around 7:30 pm but we want to mention it now.

Now, let's just hope there are no shots today at our yearly check-ups, and let's pray the roads are good enough for us to get there.

~~UPDATE~~
All is well with the children and their check-ups; however, Lys did have to have one shot :-( Not a nice birthday present, but it could have been worse, she could have had 2 shots!
Thanks everybody for their kind wishes!
Praise the Lord we were able to get there and back without any mishaps on the roads!

Didaskaleinophobia

That's it folks, no other news, just the word of the week! I wish I could see/hear y'all trying to sound some of these words out. That would be so much fun. Have a good one!

The Answer is....

Didaskaleinophobia: Fear of School (when I chose this word, I was not liking school too much)!

It's Monday...Where is my laundry Helper?

A couple of weeks ago when my brother and his family were home, my neice K (age 2 1/2) wanted to know where everything was. I guess she wanted to make sure Aunt's house had all the important items... potty, bathtub, washer and dyer. I quickly took her around and showed her where all of these items were. She was quite happy to know, and enjoyed following me when I had things to do. One night while they were here, she wanted to help me with the laundry. So, being the mom/aunt that I am, I put her right to work!
She loved watching the laundry get washed and she helped to "shake & throw" it into the dryer. So, being that today is a Monday a.k.a. laundry day, I am missing my helper. I love it when little ones want to help and it was fun to spend the time with her. May be she will want to help Aunt every time she comes home. I love you, K :-)
P.S. If you are wondering, yes, that is a cling-on nativity on the washer door. Those of you who know me, know I love nativities and have to put them everywhere! I think I put 3 in my new laundry room!
Also, I know that BCK are missing the other B, and I wanted them to have a little something to smile about today. Love you all!
