Medicine Again

Here I am, back from the doctor and the pharmacy. We decided that due to Luc's coughing and nose blowing that he should see the doctor. He had a 2:00pm appointment, so we headed to the other side of town. Thankfully, the weather was nowhere near like it was the last time we headed that direction!
After a brief exam and throat culture, it was decided that his sinus infection has not cleared up the way it should have and he is back on medicine again. It is a good thing we do not have a co-pay right now, because his medicine just cost us $69. Let's see, one teaspoon for 10 days that equals just about $6.90 per day. I really hope this medicine works!

I mentioned the weather; it has been sunny here in NY all day long and it has been wonderful. The temps have only been in the 20's, but it is so fabulous to see the sun!

Hi Everyone!

Today I decided that I would blog. A nice break from studying my Spanish vocabulary that I should be learning for tomorrow's quiz.
Seeing how I didn't really know what I wanted to blog about, I decided to blog about me. Okay, now that sounds very selfish.
My name is Beth, I am 14, and in 9th grade. I take Algebra 1, Spanish 1, English, World Geography, Health, Bible Doctrines, and Biology. My very least favorite is World Geography and my all-time favorite is human Anatomy & Physiology, which was part of Biology.
I have plans to go to college for 4 years majoring in Pre-med and then continue on to Medical school for another 4 years. I would like to be a doctor in some kind of orthopedic sub-specialty.
I love to read (when I have the time) and my favorite authors are Melody Carlson, Robin Jones Gunn, Beverly Lewis, Janette Oke, Wanda Brunstetter, & Susan K. Marlow.
I enjoy listening to music a lot and my favorite music artists are 33 Miles (my #1 favorite!), Tenth Avenue North, Casting Crowns, Rush of Fools (Grandma, I can just imagine what you are saying :) ),Jeremy Camp, and Cadia. My list of favorite songs is always changing, so I won't list that.
Summer is definitely my favorite season, because I don't like being cold.
My favorite TV shows are Dancing with the Stars, Jon & Kate + 8, 17 Kids and Counting, Ace of Cakes, and Hannah Montana.
My favorite movies are all the Love Comes Softly ones, National Treasure 1 & 2, Night at the Museum, and the High School Musicals.
I have a variety of nicknames for example Trouble, Cooky, Doc, and Miss Fix-It.
I don't really play any sports, except for what we might play together in the yard.
What I've learned from my parents: Don't say "I don't know." And BTW saying this doesn't work either, " I do not have the slightest idea what the answer could be." I have learned a lot more than that.
My favorite argument: "Ty, he has teeth surgery, and gets his teeth back. I have knee surgery twice, and the doctors send my bone to the pathology department to never to see it again!"
4 of my 7 friends live out of state, so they are always something to look forward to each year at the Home-school Conference. Oh, and all the shopping is pretty cool, and the speakers.
My piece of advice to all of you: Don't have surgery unless necessary. It hurts, literally! I remember the 1st time I had surgery, I didn't think it would hurt.
So, I guess that 's pretty much everything. I'll blog again someday! --Beth

Tuesday's Word of the Week

Those who follow this blog know that on Tuesday, I publish the word of the week. The words are taken from A Beka material Ty is using, or A.C.E. material that Beth is using. This week's word is from ABB.

~~INEXORABLE~~

Feel free to leave your comments with what you THINK the word means (without checking the dictionary) and I post the answer later in the day. I have really enjoyed reading your comments, and hope you have enjoyed our little game as well.

Tuesdays are also our day to go to the chiropractor and the library which means the answers aren't posted until we get home. "See" you soon!

The Answer is:

Inexorable: in-ek-ser-uh-buh; adjective
1. unyielding; unalterable
2. not to be persuaded, moved, or affected by prayers or entreaties

Game Day!

No, I am not a week behind. I know the "big game" was last week, I didn't miss it! Today our day did not go they way we planned. Have you had days like that( yes, mommy, I know your day was nothing like you planned either)? This morning our plans were to go to Sunday school, church, eat lunch at church, attend the afternoon service and then come home. We were going to be taking my mom's car back to her (we borrow it when ours needs to go to the shop) and spend the afternoon together.
Well, when we woke up this morning, we noticed some water was coming in our bathroom above the window. T checked it out and found a rather large chuck of ice built up over the window. Not usually a problem, he has a really tall ladder, but it was at my parents house. So, T called and asked if they could bring it up for him today. Fast-forward a couple of hours and we are getting ready for church to start and guess you shows up for church. Yup, you guessed it. Mommy was standing in the foyer and it was great to see her. They had dropped the ladder off at our house, came for church and then were headed for lunch at Texas Roadhouse. Well, I don't enjoy fellowship dinners, and I "suggested" that it would be nice if mommy and I went to lunch together. We had a really nice dinner and we were able to get caught up with each other with no children around to listen to all that is said. After dinner, we headed home and figured we would have some time to chat while the men were out taking care of the ice. Mommy had said "T, hurry up so we can play cards" I told her, it would probably be a while and had even started working on another project figuring they would be quite a bit. Needless to say, Mommy got her wish, they were in only after about 10 minutes.
We proceeded to play a couple of games of Rook, and then moved on to a couple of other new games that we had gotten. We played the new version of Scrabble called "Scrabble me", where all four players play at the same time, and Buzz word. After that, things kept right on truckin'. We played Rack-o, Uno, and Split. It was a great day and everyone was able to have a chance to play something they liked. It was great to spend time together, have fun and be silly! Thanks for playing, everyone! Too bad we have to go back to school tomorrow. We have had a GREAT week-end. And I didn't even want to mention all the things we did on Saturday. This post was already too long! Hope you enjoyed hearing about our day. See you Tuesday for our word of the week!
