When we had our "big" snow event the end of
February, we woke to about 13 turkeys
sitting/sleeping on our frozen pond.
Soaking up the warm rays of the sun.
Later that same day, after the snow-blowing
and shoveling, this is what we found in our driveway.
I couldn't get a very good picture, they all
hurried away once I opened the door.
Interestingly enough, the night before when I
put the children to bed, our devotion book was
on wild turkeys.
The following are statements are taken from
The Big Book of Animal Devotions
by William L. Coleman.
-Wild Turkeys are built for short, fast flights.
-Turkeys can reach flight speeds of about
forty miles per hour almost immediately.
-It a turkey could keep up that speed, it
would be amazing for a bird that lives on
the ground. The problem is they can't.
-After carrying twenty-five pounds for a
short distance, they have to land.
-Imagine for a minute that God's love
came and went in short, rapid bursts.
-He would be enthused, energetic and
helpful for a few hours, but soon He
would retreat for a long rest.
-God is better than that. He stays around
day after day. He doesn't tucker out,
wear down, or take coffee breaks.
-Steady as a rock, God hangs in there
every day.
Praise ye the LORD. O give thanks unto the LORD; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.
Psalm 106:1
